Het demonische karakter en uiterlijk van de homerische Sirenen
- Mieke Penninck
Abstract
In this article, the author tries to show the similarities between the so-called ‘Sirens’ of Greek Archaic Art and the Sirens of Homer, concerning the daemonic features of both. In the end, the author connects the results of her investigation to considerations of the name of the Sirens, whether it is correct or not to call all birds with woman’s heads by the name of Sirens. She also tries to show the probability of the fact that the homeric Sirens had the shape of human beings.
