Abstract

In 1991 the writer Imme Dros published an integral translation of Homerʼs Odyssey. Some years later she published a version of both the Iliad and the Odyssey for a young reading public. In this article both of these juvenile novels are subject to a narratological study with the aim of formulating an answer to the question in which ways Imme Dros succeeded in creating her own version of Iliad and Odyssey which is both true to the original and accessible for a young, contemporary public. Furthermore the narratological aspects of time, narrator, listener, tension and characters are analysed and compared with the original. Finally language, style, humour and intertextual links of young peopleʼs novels are briefly investigated.
