Abstract
The Hebrew Bible is a stylish piece of literature. One of its most common and characteristic processes of generating wordplay is the repetition (on macro and microlevel). Translators of all times were and are confronted with this phenomenon. How do they cope with it? Do they ignore, alter, (mis)understand it? In this article the focus is on the ancient Greek translations, the Septuagint and the Hexapla and their attitude towards repetitive wordplay.
