The dogs were presented to a Belgian veterinarian because of fever of unknown origin. NumerousH. canis gamonts were seen inside neutrophilic granulocytes on the blood smear of the three dogs. Theanimal with most clinical signs was also infected with Ehrlichia canis. The life cycle, clinical fi ndings,diagnostic techniques, treatment options and epidemiology of H. canis are reviewed in this article. Consideringthe increasing importance of exotic diseases, it is warranted to add H. canis as a differentialdiagnosis in animals that originate from, or have travelled to endemic areas.</p>}, month = {4}, pages = {69-74}, issn = {0303-9021}, publisher={Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UGent)}, journal = {Vlaams Diergeneeskundig Tijdschrift} }
