Bij het overlijden van Margaret Mead
Abstract
On the death of Margaret Mead - Margaret Mead, one of the most eminent Anglo-Saxon anthropologists, died in November 1978. She was born in Philadelphia, in 1901. Her scientific work is situated in many disciplines: cultural and social anthropology, sociology, child psychology, sexuology, social psychiatry, pedagogy and anthropological methodology. She was a pioneer in anthropological field work. Her studies about childrearing, sexual life of primitive people and character development and personality have become classics of cultural anthropology. Unlike many anthropologists, Margaret MEAD, became interested very early in the study of the life of modern social organizations. Her comprehensive knowledge of the way of life of different cultures resulted in important comparative work about behavioural patterns of primitive and developed cultural groups.
