Een verklaringsmodel voor de verschillen in procesvoeringsratio van de burgerlijke rechtbanken van eerste aanleg
Abstract
An explanatory model for the differences in litigation rates of Belgian tribunals - The attempt to explain the differences in litigation rates of the Belgian tribunals of first instance by means of a regression analysis has been meaningful. It has proved that these differences are not accidental, but that structural factors can be found, largely determining the variation. In the present study we were able to explain between 52 and 84 percent of the variation with the help of a set of seven primary variables (level of education, solicitors p.i., % houses occupied by their owner, % inhabitants ever living in the same municipality, degree of urbanization, female employment rate, prosperity index). Although the fixation of their own relative contribution (corrected for the influence of the other variables) has caused some difficulties, due to multicolline earity it is obvious that the relative influence was most important for the solicitors (positive) and the autochthonous population (negative). The influence of the other variables seems somewhat weaker but is still existing. All these relationships have been established at an ecological level. Hence, it is not certain whether they can also be found at an individual level. However, this constitutes the most obvious hypothesis.
