Kwaliteit van de arbeid, een nieuwe beweging?: een arbeidssociologische analyse

Abstract

Quality of labour, a new movement? An industrial sociological analysis - In this article the quality of working life in our post-industrial society is analysed. The new approach “Humanisation of labour”, characterized in experiments as job-enrichment, floating workhours,... is introduced to reduce costs of absenteeism, turnover, etc. The sociological question is: is it a new strategy of monopoly capital and management or is it a way of emancipating the work people? An answer is proposed within a context of the history of labour, a history as a process of growing control and degradation of work. Humanisation of work seems to be a new strategy of management to reduce labour problems by making a new division of labour without reconstruction of the whole society. The government and the unions have to play an important role in the process of change. A proposal for a new structure with decentralised workgroups, collegial decision making, and new communication channels, is made.
