Omschrijving van de euthanasie problematiek
Abstract
Circumscription of the euthanasia problem - The purpose of this contribution is to raise the matter of euthanasia. This problem becomes acute as a result of the quickly progressing medical development. The elements in relation to euthanasia are illuminated by defining the concept. At further reflexion, it is clear that euthanasia is rather an ethical than a medical problem, for the quality of life is discussed. Euthanasia is further seen in the light of the process of dying and of incurable disease, before the dying process has begun. When the dying person is involved, the actual attitude of proponents and opponents are very close to each other. The case of euthanasia without physical and undeniable symptoms of coming death, remains strongly negatively evaluated. However one can hardly pass on the matter. A reality is involved which demands that one chooses position.
