Sterven als sociaal gebeuren
Abstract
The social fact of dying - A growing number of people die outside their home. This is not only linked to an objective need, but has also something to do with the phenomenon of repression of death out of our society. Different theories on death-repression are presented in this respect. For the “terminal” person it means that there will be a decreasing chance for him to die in his familiar entourage and an increasing probability for ending his life in loneliness. If we want death to be a social event, as life in fact is, a basic human interaction pattern up to and including death has to be maintained.
