Open-marktpolitiek: een techniek die waard is herontdekt te worden
Abstract
Open market policy: a technique to reconsider - In an effort to make an analysis of open market policy, we noted that on the Continent and especially in Belgium, little has been written about this part of monetary policy. On the other hand in the United States of America, open market policy is one of the most powerful weapons of the Federal Reserve System where it is used as an all-round instrument of monetary control. Increasing inflation and especially its consequences justify research on the possibilities of open market policy to slow down monetary demand. After an analysis of the origin, the application in different countries and the effects of open market policy, this paper ends with a description of the Belgian case. It was found that the structural framework of the monetary and financial organization in Belgium is not fit for an effective open market policy.
