Enkele opmerkingen over de relaties tussen demografische en politieke variabelen
Abstract
Some observations on the relations between demographic and political variables - The author first indicates the functional relations between demography and politics, which are based, inter alia, on the varying belief in the possibility of rational action and the value assigned to it. Attention is then given to three demographic variables - growth of population, differential fertility, and immigration - which influence political variables. The author further discusses other demographic variables - size of population, internal migration and migration for political reasons - which are influenced by political variables. The demographic significance of the political variable “ideology” is also examined. Finally, an attempt is made to answer the question why so little attention has been paid up till now to the correlation between demographic and political variables.
