Marriage with the first sexual partner? - The authors, both research-professors at the Sociological Institute of the University of Copenhagen, try to answer the question what part of Danish youth married with the first sexual partner, i.e. without having sexual intercourse with another person between the moment of the first sexual intercourse and the moment of marriage. The results of an inquiry by 205 students of the university of Copenhagen, seems to indicate that about 30%-31 % of Danish girl-students and 28% of Danish boy-students are married with their first sexual partner. Girls are more likely to marry with their first sexual partner than boys. The reason is that boys in general had their first sexual intercourse at an earlier age and marry later than girls, thus, they have more possibilities for sexual activities. In general, they also have a more “liberal” attitude to premarital sexual activities. Finally, the authors compare the results of their inquiry with the data from four earlier Danish studies about the same problem.
