Regional development of employment in Belgium: 1958-1965 - Regional policy in Belgium is determined by antagonies between the norther and southern regions. Emperical investigation on disparities in the development of employment shows that there are many reasons to admit that sub-regions in both parts of the country have to be developped urgently. There is nearly a numerical equivalency of sub-regions in the two parts which have a weak sectorial and regional component. The investigation method used here is very simple. The regional disparities are found by comparing sectorial and sub-regional growth of employment with national growth. It is further argued that the study of disparities in the development of employment is obviously not reaching far enough to decide which sub-region must have priority. Other elements e.g. as the income per capita consumption and the sectorial value added per worker must be taken in account.
