De betekenis van de gemeenschappelijke markt voor de Deense landbouwexport

Abstract

The probable impact of the European Common Market on Danish agricultural exports. - In this article we tried to evaluate the probable longterm effects of the European Common Market on the future development of Danish agricultural exports. Although it proved impossible to give precise quantitative estimates of these effects (mainly due to the uncertainty which is still surrounding the agricultural policies, which will be followed by the „six”) two important aspects have been discussed. Besides the „diversion effect” which will result in partial substitution of Danish by Dutch products, the probable effect on self-sufficiency within the six has also been considered. The latter might even prove to be the most important in the long run. This point has involved a discussion of some recent estimates of the future supply and demand situation within the six in i960 and 1970. The article ends with a short survey of recent developments in Danish economic policy.
