Kritische succesfactoren van een educatief televisieprogramma

Abstract

Critical success factors for an educational television programme - Without aiming at extensive comparisons with Teleac or other Western European educational broadcasting services — the underlying financial, legal and structural context factors for educational BRTN programmes being far too different — we intend to compare a selection of programme characteristics considered relevant in the literature on the subject with statements made by educational broadcasting practitioners in both Flanders (BRTN) and the Netherlands (Teleac). The aim of this contribution is to detect a series of so-called critical success factors for an educational television programme with a view to higher audience appreciation. This article deals with issues such as the relationship between the audio and the visual channels, the accord between the image and the discourse, visualizations, editing and camera techniques, didactic interventions, the need for research, the potential evolution of television from a unidirectional medium to an interactive one. Programme success is defined from the perspective of the programme makers’ creative needs as well as those of the decision makers for the educational programme supply within the channel’s overall strategy. Special attention is given to the extent to with research results are taken into account in the actual programme production process.
