Een literatuuronderzoek naar de inhoud en draagwijdte van "sociale dumping"
Abstract
A survey of the literature on social dumping and its implications - As a result of the economic crisis in Europe, a debate is going on in several member states of the European Union on the restructuring of the socio-economic system. Rules concerning social protection and salary play an important role in this debate. Repeated reference is made to the structural social deficit of several international trading partners. It is a widely held view in the EU, that these trading partners have translated this lack of social rules into improved competitiveness. But inside the Union, too, differences in terms of social protection are likely to lead to a distortion of competition. The main focus of attention in the present paper is on ’social dumping’ as a means of protecting the competitiveness of high-wage countries. An analysis of the relevant literature is made in order to throw light on the social and economic effects of different forms of social dumping.
