Over agressiviteit
Abstract
On aggressiveness - The cultural-sociological interpretation of aggressiveness offered here pictures the pervasive and also lasting influence which this phenomenon has exerted and is still exerting on Western man and his culture. We live and work in a society in which aggressiveness is endemic, manifesting itself in striking and less striking modes of thought and action. The aggressiveness which both harms and stimulates us in our social existence is the crucial issue continuing to fascinate behavioural scientists. It is, indeed, essential for people to come to grips with the problem of aggressiveness in the interest of an orderly society, while on the other hand the system of values governing organized society cannot be realized in the absence of aggressiveness as a human and cultural factor.
