Schoolgebonden factoren en deviant gedrag: een analyse van interactie-effecten naar geslacht
Abstract
School factors and self-reported deviant behavior. An assessment of interactions by gender - While the topic of gender differences in deviant behavior is widely documented, few studies have tested whether the relationship between various independent variables and deviant behavior is dependent upon gender. The present study specifies the relation between school variables (derived from strain, labeling and social control theory) to assess 3-way interactions. The results of the log-linear analysis provide no support for interactions of such a kind. It is found that gender itself is associated with deviant behavior. Despite the existence of gender differences in the prevalence of deviant behavior, the results of this investigation lend support to the assumption that school related factors affect deviant behavior among girls in a similar way as they do among boys.
