De "Frankfurter Schule" en het Joodse vraagstuk

Abstract

The 'Frankfurter Schule’ and the Jewish problem— This article offers an exposition of the views of the ’Frankfurter Schule’ and the way this school discussed the so-called ’Jewish problem’. It can be read by itself, but serves in point of fact as an introduction to some studies in which texts by prominent members of the school about anti-semitism are analysed. On the subject of the ’Frankfurter Schule’ and the Jewish problem there are few publications, although it is still of current interest and the Frankfurt school put forward significant insights into the causes of anti-semitism. In this context we have not aimed at ’complete’ knowledge of the Frankfurt school, its origin and influence; rather, we have sought especially that information which we need to gain an insight into our specific subject as treated by Max Horkheimer (1895-1973) and Theodor Wiesengrund Adorno (1903-1969). The last section of this article deals with the way the Jewish problem was introduced into the Frankfurt school.
