Abstract

Cynicism as a sociological concept - In this short article the idea of cynicism as a sociological concept is put forward. Indeed, the explanation of cynical attitudes cannot always be reduced to personal reactions to a social situation. In some particular cases this attitude is determined by the socio-economic organization of society. We present this concept in the light of a recently published historical study on social policy, written by C. Lis, H. Soly and D. Van Damme.
