Abstract

This research shows that government information officers support the new goal for government communication proposed by the Committee on the Future of Government Communication. That means: a large majority of the government information officers has the opinion that not only influencing is allowed in case of policies that has been approved by Parliament, but also ‘active communication’ is allowed in cases of policies which has not (yet) been approved. A problem, however, for this new policy is that journalists do not agree with this point of view. Journalist do not want government information officers to influence others, neither in case of policies that has not been approved, neither in case of policies that has been approved by parliament.
