Van klant tot compagnon: internet verandert communicatiepatronen tussen organisaties
Abstract
Electronic business, or electronic commerce, is often presented as a transformation of the customer contact and the cooperation between enterprises. Internet will radically change the way business gets done. However, these statements are very general and offer little guidance for the design of the electronic communication patterns between enterprises that enable electronic business. We differentiate between three levels of communication patterns to specify the electronic communication between companies. We present a number of concepts like actor, role, function, process and flow to model and analyse a network of enterprises. We illustrate the use of these levels and concepts by means of an example. This example refers to an electronic auction in the agricultural sector. We also discuss some related issues that are to our approach and require complementary research. These issues are: the modelling of synchrony versus asynchrony interactions, the role of (computer mediated) human-to-human communication in relation to computer-to-computer communication and the impact of a mobile Internet and new access devices.
