Abstract

There is an enormous growth in the design and use of information and communication technologies. Communication science can play a central role in these developments, given her object of study ‘... communication situations and events in which acts of communication are mediated by networks connecting participants.’ In this special issue we give an impression of recent Dutch communication studies in the design and use of ICR-applications in relation with organisational communication. This article focuses on the role the communication science can play in the successful design and use of such applications. Therefore we developed a research framework for describing these studies. We use this framework in order to categorize the articles in this issue.
