De dynamiek van de mediahype

Abstract

By analysing six cases (‘senseless’ violence, sexual abuse in schools, terminal care in nursing homes, a political crisis, the swine fever epidemic, all in The Netherlands and the BSE-crisis in Great Britain), a theoretical model is developed, which makes it possible to define different kinds of mediahypes. Each kind of mediahype shows its specific dynamics.
