De ontwikkeling van kind tot consument
Abstract
In this article, a theory on children’s development as consumers is presented. The author argues that children’s consumer behavior develops in four successive stages. The first stage covers children in the ages of 0 to 2 years. It is explained how a number of sensorial preferences typical of infants direct their early consumer behavior patterns. In the second stage (2-5 years), when children discover their own will, they start to request and negotiate about the products they desire. In the third stage (5-8 years), children’s ability to concentrate increases rapidly, they develop a preference for adventure, and they start to select and make independent purchases. In the final stage (8-12 years), the opinions of peer become important, and children get an eye for detail.
