Adaptatievermogen, het profijt van communicatie en de kwaliteit van communicatie bij turnarounds
Abstract
In this research the role of communication during an organisational change process is examined. To determine whether this process of change was successful we investigated the adaptability of the organisation, which is obtained by the sum of the adaptabilities of its individual members. The concept of adaptation consists of several dimensions. These dimensions relate to the quality of the communication during a profound organisational change process (turnaround). In addition, we examined the benefits of the communication that the individual members experienced. We distinguished between two different subsidiaries of the group Advanced Textiles of the Royal Ten Cate company. The two subsidiaries differed in terms of the pace of the turnaround, in one of them the turnaround was fast and unexpected, in the other the turnaround was expected. A significant relationship was found between one of the dimensions of adaptation, namely satisfaction, and the experienced benefits of the communication. Also a significant relationship was found between the quality of the communication and the experienced threat to personal freedom. These results will be discussed.
