Pornografie en verkrachting: oordeel of analyse? : drie stromingen in het onderzoek naar de effecten van pornografie

Abstract

In this article, research concerning the relation between the consumption of pornography and rape was analysed. It turns out that a lot of this research is contaminated by subjective influences. Clear traces of three crucial viewpoints were found, leading to severe methodological criticism. For example, the conclusion that the measurement of aggression is not a valid indication for sexual violence weakens the clarity and quality of the reported findings. Secondly one can see the research in a different way when sexual violence is considered pathologic behaviour and studied accordingly.
