Abstract
According to a study under 356 Dutch adolescents about their interests and their orientation to news in the media, adolescents are fairly interested in a broad range of topics, but they do not worry much about anything. Although they do not feel themselves world-citizens, living in a global village (McLuhan), this does not mean that they stand indifferent face to face with the information-bombardement from all over the world, as Postman would argue. Their global political involvement is infected, however, when they experience the world picture in the media as fragmented and splenetic. Their political interests and worries correspond to an orientation to other media-genres than their interests and worries in the personal domain.
