Abstract

How popular is rock music? How does the public evaluate the leader of a television show? And does the public appreciate the music which has been used in a radio commercial? These questions (and more) can be answered on the basis of several audiological research methods. In this article these research methods will be described with the emphasis on one method, the ‘call-out research method’. The latest developments with regard to this method will be considered and some advantages and disadvantages of the method (in comparison with other methods) will be discussed. It will be determined which of the methods can be used best under which circumstances and in which situation. At the end, some of the previously unanswered questions about the ‘call-out-research method’ will be answered.
