Wat kinderen leuk vinden aan tekenfilms
Abstract
This article is a short review of a research project on the judgment by children of the quality of cartoons. Experts and parents normally are asked for their opinion on cartoons, but the opinion of children is neglected. In this research project a start is made with an inventory of children’s opinions. 182 children in the age between 8 and 12 have seen a fragment of a cartoon and filled out a survey. The results indicate that children like cartoons. Hardly any difference could be found between gender, age groups and cultural background of families as far as the general appreciation is concerned. Of the eight criteria: image, sound, identification, sensation, humor, content, action and lessons to be learned, only four criteria: humor, sensation, image and content, predict appreciation. There is no difference between gender for these criteria and only slight significant differences for age groups are found. Age and cultural background of families play a complex role in relation to two criteria: humor and content. Research on the relationships between these variables is necessary
