Nieuwsgierigheid en interesse: de invloed van titel en tekststructuur op aandacht en waardering voor verstrooiende teksten


Abstract

Everyday, people are confronted with a very large number of texts. Therefore, they have to select the texts they want to attend to. In the first experiment, it was studied whether the position of the text’s theme and the title’s clarity influenced the amount of attention paid to a text. The results showed that fewer sentences were read if the text’s theme was positioned at the beginning of the text. In a second experiment, it was studied whether the position of the text’s theme influenced the text’s ratings. No such effects were obtained.
