Persconcentratie in Nederland 1986-1994
Abstract
Over the last years print media in the Netherlands have become increasingly concentrated. In 1994 there will be 13 independent publishers of newspapers (in 1986 there were 23), while the biggest 5 of them will have a market share of 87%. The number of independent newspapers has decreased from 50 in 1986 to 44 in 1993. Almost 60% of the population is living in communities with a newspaper monopoly, in 1987 this was true for 40%. Weekly newspapers have gone down in circulation and titles with 50% in the last decade. These developments ask for a new government policy concerning newspapers monopoly or oligopoly.
