De omroep-woestijn herbezocht: weinig nieuws onder de zon
- Paul Hendriksen
Abstract
In a 1974 Massacommunicatie article the author showed that a positive correlation that could be assumed between educational levels on the one hand and selectivity in viewing behavior on the other, hardly existed in average viewing practice at that time. He then suspected that this phenomenon might change in the near future due to an ongoing increase of number of available and receivable channels, multiple tv set ownership, remote controlled viewing, etc., being all factors facilitating individual instead of family determined viewing behavior. Recent audience research figures, however, do not support this expectation and prove that the often assumed correlation still does not exist.
