Nieuwsbladen in Nederland: diagnose van een bedrijfstak
Abstract
In this article the financial position of local newspapers (paid, not daily) is investigated. The main source of income for these newspapers are advertising revenues. These revenues are strongly affected by the coverage of the newspapers: the size of the audience relative to the number of households. The main internal and external developments which affect the revenues of the newspapers are investigated. Recommendations are formulated with respect to the owners of the newspapers and possible support from the government.
