Ervaren problemen en informatiebehoeften bij ouderen in Rotterdam

Abstract

The theoretical frame, developed by Bosman et al (1989) suggests that the experience of area-specific problems which cannot be solved in a routine manner leads to an interest in and a search for information in that particular domain. In this article we investigate whether this proposition can be empirically justified for elderly people in Rotterdam. We investigated a random sample (N=3I9) of these elderly people to determine if and to what extent experienced problems in the different areas (safety, finance, health and leisure activities) did lead to an interest in information in those domains. In general, the findings support the proposition.
