Abstract

The Dutch Press Council (the ’’Raad voor de Journalistiek”) is a voluntary body which can only issue advisory opinions and concerns itself mainly with minor problems. Journalists should not be treated in another manner than ordinary citizens. They should be subject to the same laws and the same courts. The President of the Amsterdam District Court is fully capable of handling problems between journalists and those who feel adversely affected by their publications.
