Abstract
Media-education projects that are based on semiology are aimed at turning children into critical consumers of audiovisual products by initiating them in the ’’language” of image and sound. The paper discusses the main characteristics of the ’’structural” semiological theories on which this type of media education is based. Using two concrete media-education projects as examples, the objectives and didactic approach of semiological media-education projects are discussed. Research into the effects of semiological media education is wholly wanting.
