Kijken naar televisie: een huiselijk melodrama?
Abstract
In this article research done by Morley on the domestic use of television is tested in the Dutch context. The question we pose is whether it is legitimate to speak of a male and a female viewing culture. Differences in viewing behaviour, found by Morley in his study of 20 English families, were also observed in a wider sample in the Netherlands. Men dominate the viewing choices made, and prefer sports and information; women prefer watching separately their favourite drama series.
