Is Orestes schuldig? De schuldproblematiek in Griekse Orestestragedies en Nederlandse vertalingen
- Lieven Vanhoutte
Abstract
Aeschylus and Euripides gave different answers to the burning question of who has to be considered guilty for Clytaemestra’s assassination. On the one hand, we are looking for the culprit in four tragedies. On the other hand, we analyse the numerous translations of the Greek word for culpability (aitia) in some Dutch versions of the dramas. These translations may reveal divergent visions on the guilt-problem.
