Herodotos in Egypte
- Peter De Smet
Abstract
Herodotus is one of those authors with an everlasting popularity. His ground braking Histories is still being discussed in the academic world and the question of its veracity is high on the agenda of certain scholars. This article is a general survey of Herodotus’ second book that deals primarily with Egypt at the time of the Persian domination, and looks at certain statements from an Egyptologist point of view. The more we know about ancient Egypt, the more Herodotus seem to be able to hold his ground.
