Welk Nederlands of wat voor Nederlands voor Franstalige studenten?
- Siegfried Theissen
Abstract
In Flemish universities, as indeed in Flemish higher education in general,
the issue of which (if any) standard should be used in the teaching of the
Dutch language is increasingly pregnant. Should standard Dutch be taught,
or should Flemish varieties be taken into account? The question is also raised
in the Dutch departments of Belgian French-speaking universities. The present
survey brings out the great diversity that prevails in this respect, from the
most tolerant - or lax? - position to be found in Namur, to the firm stand
taken at the University of Liège.
