The criteria children use to answer the question under which circumstances the administration of drugs resulting in death in a clinical situation is acceptable - Adults often use criteria as terminality, informed consent, unbearable pain, degrading circumstances, competence,... to answer the question under which circumstances the administration of drugs resulting in death in clinical situations is acceptable. Do children also use these criteria? This is an interesting question in connection with the issue of children's rights. If children do use the same criteria as adults, it is an important indication that the way of thinking about end of life decisions of adults and children is quite similar and that there is no deep gap in the understanding of and insight in these matters between adults and children. This knowledge can eventually lead to a more open attitude towards children and their possible potential to communicate seriously about these matters.
