Abstract
This article presents empirical data based on a representative sample of 380 users and 150 non-users of the public library. It was investigated why and how often one uses the public library, how one feels about the service given and how the loan right will affect the membership of the public library. The results show that the public library user is a happy customer, but that he is not fully aware of all the facilities provided by the public library.
