Abstract
“Under analyzed” by social scientists in Morocco, the group of directors of Moroccan public enterprises underwent a series of transformations as a result of neoliberal modernization process of public sector started since the 80s. The purpose of this article is to account of these developments through the case study of one of the largest public companies: the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG). Based on the exploitation of a set of documents (monographs, official documents, newspaper articles ...) produced by or about this institution and the analysis of the profile of its directors between 1959 and 2009 and semi-structured interviews with a sample of current and former executives, it shows that if there has been a changing profile of its officers (from the senior civil servants of the financial administration to the graduates engineers of the French « grandes écoles »), the dominant paradigm in the management remained, however, the same.
Key words: directors of public enterprises, modernization, neoliberalism, Morocco, management
